Sad sobbed, “No one likes me, no one wants to be with me!”

“Cut it out now. We all have problems; only you are making a big deal about yours, Sad,” said Envy.

“Look at Love, many times people throw him out in fear of losing it later; Hatred is hated the more; Happiness is compared always and demeaned often and me, Envy, I have existence only when someone else have it all, you know how difficult it is to find my way in.”

“Even though no one wants you, you are there at the end of every other emotion; so stop your act now,” lectured the Envy.

She was thrilled as he got on one knee, gently taking her hand and let the words out, “Will you marry me?”

Though they never told each other how they felt, both of them knew that they loved each other. After all, there is something mysterious about those untold words, as they tried to speak their heart through gestures; love is undying when words are carried through gestures!

As she was about to say “yes,” he stood up and asked “How was it, Amy? You think she will say yes?”

Heartbroken, she said “yes, who wouldn’t? ” then he took the ring and put it on Amy’s finger, taking her by surprise and said to a teary-eyed Amy as they embraced each other, “That’s what I was hoping you would say, my dear.”

Today is one of those days,
I am sad for no reason.
I am not aware of the whys,
I feel broken.
Inspiration sucked out of me,
as emotionless I feel.
Like a leaf falling
in the autumn breeze.
I smile for the sake of it,
never fulfilling the meaning;
Today is one of those days!

She looked at the horizon, sun painting the wide sky with his palette one last time, dipping clouds in shades of red. How does he do that, she wondered! Spreading such warmth throughout the day, filling light and life on the earth, come evening he puts on his artist coat and paints the beautiful blue sky in hues of orange and red, crafting the marvelous golden horizon.

Her heart pumped to amaze the world one last time, just like the sun, before she succumbed her life to cancer. And she captured the beautiful stripes one last time on the canvas, filling the white paper with colors the glorious sun adored, leaving him astonished at her work.

Conflict of Interest

The grumbling tummy said “go ahead” but morals said “hold on”.
I was torn between hunger and pride, tiredness and humility. Sandwich – lying on the trash can left by its previous owner probably because he was too busy to eat it, because he can eat stomach full later – gave me a disgusted look, knowing my intention in savoring it and appease my famished stomach.
Though pride got in the way and didn’t let me touch the food, I couldn’t neglect stomach’s pleas.
As I gave in to stomach’s plea and took a bite of the food, I felt tears rolling down my cheeks – eyes thanking me on stomach’s behalf.

Little joys

Amy laughed happily making the spin wheel turn fast with every blow, as her mother, Kristy, sat beside her in the park bench looking at her with a smile on her lips, though her eyes screamed concerns and worries for her autistic daughter.
She wasn’t bothered about the society looking at Amy with pity, nor about her once close friends who rarely visits her now because they don’t like Amy playing with their kids instead the sympathies and actions that didn’t extend beyond words enriched Kristy in compartmentalizing herself from the outside world and her world with Amy.
At the age of nineteen, Amy was nothing like her peers – she played with paints making a mess of it instead of making colorful pictures, got excited at the sight of stars and moon, jumped up and down seeing a clown, cried her eyes out when her mom was out of her sight, ran to her mom like a toddler.
Amy’s every smile lit up Kristy’s life though she worried about a tomorrow when she was not around to take care of Amy. Kristy thought, when life turns the wheel bringing in new tomorrows, Amy might find it hard to come in terms with life’s terms but today she is happy that she can spin the toy in her hand; tomorrow’s demons shall be dealt with, in due time!

Grief, the dreaded word, the gruesome feeling,
unfolding ghastly moments .
Grief, unearthing the frenzy
within the sane ones,
despised, looked upon gravely.
Yet happiness got its many colors
by the mere existence
 of horrid grief.
Atrocious moments needs
grieving to get by.
Though cringed, grief too is significant
in completing joy.

“I can do it, I just have to follow the instructions!”

“What if you mess it up, and get it all wrong?”
“I am intelligent, educated, I can read the instructions pretty well, what hassle is following them?”
“But this is not lab exam, no one is here to help you; you can’t even identify between coriander powder and garam masala, why the hell are you attempting to make Fried Rice?”
“Sshh, This is what marriage is all about – Trial and Error – he knows what he is signed up for when we got married!”, and thus shushing away my inner voice I made my first ever FRIED rice, which eventually found its way to trash can.

“I was here waiting for him, on the platform with my luggage; as delighted I was to see the train approaching –  to start a new life with him, to make a world of our own, to get away from the rain, his absence made me panic though I knew he wouldn’t betray me, for I knew how important was it for him the new life we planned, and still made me doubt if the nervousness finally caught up with him “

“He didn’t come and the plan was for both of us to go together, so i didn’t board the train, instead I waited for him and I missed my train, as it whistled past me gaining speed carrying my hopes and dreams, taking my new life away, I stood here helpless, unable to fathom how he could abandon me, rain wiping tears off my face.”

“His friend came and told that he met with an accident on the way to the railway station and my anguish heightened when I learned that I cannot join the new route he took by catching any train.”

“But that did not answer my question – why are you coming here every year on the same day, wait till the train comes and leaves after it goes?”, asked the puzzled station master.

“We made the plan dear; waiting for him I weaved the beautiful days ahead for us which no sun ever brought me in the last 20 years and coming back here I take a glimpse at what it could have been, I wouldn’t miss it for the world.”

Journey called Marriage!

They set out for the journey together, with almost similar expectations and emotions.
They thought that both of them were handed out the same route and reaching destination is no hassle because, well, they are there for each other, that’s what they pledged to do – to be there for each other in sickness and health, till death do them part.

Picture via Pixabay

They seemed happy, holding hands they started the joyous ride called marriage.

Years later they stood on opposite sides of the road with a wall grown between them, neither of them wanting to put an effort to break the wall or climb the wall and be together again.
Not knowing which direction the other is going they both continued their journey alone, with more drifting it was easy to choose different routes and care less about the so called “soul mate”.
