Is that a pattern? Or some decorative lights? He strained his eyes to get a better look, but the blur was more pronounced now.
“Where am I?”
The streaming light behind the pattern caught his attention. The gushed in light flooded his eyes that he wanted to go back to the calmness of dark he was used to by now.
Then he saw the mysterious figure formed by the light and as he walked towards it the blur disappeared to reveal his long gone pet friend.

The older woman in the mirror looked nothing like her, she realized.
She asked “who are you?”
“I am you, silly. Have you forgotten what you have done to yourself all these years by neglecting yourself, not paying attention to your dreams and avoiding your desires?”
Her reflection stared at her posing questions she neglected so long.
In her race to make everyone else happy, to help everyone else achieve their dreams, she forgot all about her.
Though she found solace in her husband’s achievements and kids accomplishments, only she could hear her heart whispering ‘if only I could..’

“Look Mel, that minivan is still there. Why is it parked in the same spot always? I guess someone abandoned it. What do you think?”
“I think so too, Claire. You wanna go take a closer look?” said Mel walking towards the minivan.
“Its almost time for school. We won’t snoop around here for long, okay Mel?”
“Hey, What are you girls up to now?” called out Claire’s big brother Adam.
“Never mind” replied the girls running towards their school ditching their curiosity unaware of the disappointment in the red eyes looking at them through the window of the van.
