Taking Responsibility #SoulfulSunday

I love making plans. I love making plans and following them. At least I used to. I have made so many plans in the past and fulfilled them too. But of late, my plans are falling apart.

To begin with I’m not coming up with stable plans. And following the plans has become a hassle for me. The moment I think this is working out; I’m following the plan better this time – it all falls apart. It’s like I go above and beyond to sabotage the plans and purposely destroy everything.

Soulful Sunday

For example, I have been complaining about the lack of blogging interactions in the past. But the truth is, more than anything I am upset about my lack of interaction in the blogging world. I noticed that when I visit blogs and interact I am happy and complain free. It’s never about how many comments or likes I got for my posts – that much I can say without any confusion.

But when I don’t interact, I point the fingers at others. The excuses to help me out of guilt. That’s human nature.

We need to hold someone responsible, someone else, someone who is not us. Even though I know it was my lack of execution of plans that caused the displeasure.

In this case I failed to follow through with my plans and I made a dummy problem with no solutions by pointing fingers at others for the lack of blogging enthusiasm. This approach will never help me.

So what’s the solution?

Go back and make plans that will work.

Follow up.

Remember the ball is always in my court.

Get to work.

Don’t lose focus.

The onus lies on me. I can either crib about the failed plans and point fingers at others. Or, I can work out a better plan that fits better with my lifestyle and aspirations and work to achieve that.

No matter what the onus lies on me.

  1. I can relate to everything I’ve read from our Garden today, Vinitha. You and I have so much in common; it’s a shame we haven’t chatted as much as we did a year ago! 🙂 This really resonated with me, today: “But when I don’t interact, I point the fingers at others. The excuses to help me out of guilt. That’s human nature.” I learned some 10 years ago not to point the finger at others, because of COURSE that’s the first resort in whining about the lack of interaction, and as my grandmother used to remind me: “You have to write letters to get letters.” That hasn’t changed in over 50 years. I haven’t been very good at writing letters – neither blogs nor comments nor emails nor actual “snail mail” letters. Mea culpa. But I love the interaction, too, and the lack of it leads to a self-fulfilling prophecy.

  2. Hey Vinitha, I am here today ?
I hear you. Wise souls say plans are made to fail just like promises are meant to be broken. Okay, this wise soul is me. Now that your resolve is concrete, make plans no longer and just start the action. Start reading and commenting on other blogs. Bombard the whatever-remains-of-the-blogosphete with your presence and BE the inspiration. I have faith in you. That Chamunda mantra is there to boost you up too ?

  3. I think all of us have plans that fall apart. Sometimes because we aren’t really invested in them anymore, other times, maybe we just need to lighten our load! I’m sure you’ll find the resolve to work on the plans that really matter to you!

  4. Hey we all make plans that fall apart ! And as for blogging , I’ve been so put off by it that I actually withdrew into my own world .

  5. I hear you, Vinitha!

It happens to the best of us, even when we have the best intentions to follow through, and never intend to allow our plans to derail, it still happens, but that’s life for you. Realising where you can improve upon, is half the battle won. Now, all you need to do is to build the foundation to sustain your plans, a few or perhaps just one or two important ones, to focus on.
I can sense your resolve in those concluding lines, Vinitha. If anybody can do it, you can and you will 🙂

Good luck with everything, Vinitha and an awesome week ahead!!!

  6. Thanks for sharing your thoughts Vinita. Writing plans is what I need to look at and work on, be it blogs or personal writing. I always see something positive in your posts and sometimes we need the motivation,
