“Shake it off, Nithya. It’s nothing. You are entertaining these irrational thoughts in that imaginative mind of yours and getting worried unnecessarily,” Ravi tried to make her understand how unreasonable she was being.
But this was not just a thought she could shake off and get on with, as if it was all in her head. The dishes were cleaned in the morning, all in their usual place, as she would have done, although last night she was certain she didn’t wash the dishes before going to bed.
“Come on, Ravi. Believe me. I am sure this is not my overactive imagination at work. And this is not happening for the first time. Since we moved in last year, strange things have been happening. I feel like this house reads my mind and fulfills my wishes like a personal AI assistant.”
“You are crazy! Then why isn’t the house fulfilling my wishes?” snapped Ravi.
“I don’t know,” replied Nithya, the question puzzling her too.
The genie who had lived in that house for the last decade chuckled at their fight and mused to himself, “Good that this year I decided to turn a new leaf and help you, girl. The people who lived here last year ran off unable to put up with my mischief”.

Haha! If only I had such a genie living under my roof! I would tell him to do the dishes and the cleaning, rest would be taken care of by me. 🙂
