A Message Across Time

Maya’s fingers trembled as she held the aged envelope—a token from her past self, forgotten until this moment. Inside lay a letter she had written to her future self at the tender age of 15, to be opened when she turned 30.

Thirteen years had passed since she turned 30.

A mix of curiosity and anticipation enveloped her as she peeled back the seal, revealing her own handwriting from years gone by. As she read the words penned by her younger self, a rush of emotions flooded over her.

"Dear Maya,

No matter where you are, no matter what you are doing, no matter what you've been through, no matter what you've created, no matter whatever is in store, no matter everything and anything, always remember that you do your best. You are the best.

I love you.

Maya"

The sentiments captured in those lines echoed the desires and dreams of her youthful heart. Maya couldn’t help but smile at the innocence and optimism she once possessed.

She felt an overwhelming sense of pride, realizing how she had always been there for herself—not giving up on her dreams, always rooting for her. Her past self made an appearance out of the blue when she needed a nudge to believe in herself again.

As Maya folded the letter back into its envelope, she felt a renewed sense of purpose and determination. Though separated by time, the message from her past self served as a beacon of hope, guiding her forward with confidence and grace.

With a grateful heart, Maya tucked the letter away, knowing that its wisdom would continue to inspire her on the journey ahead.

  1. This was so beautiful, Vinitha!! I am glad Maya had inspired herself to live the life of her dreams and make herself proud.
I loved the idea of writing a letter to our future self and opening it years later to see who we were back then. 🙂
