Sometimes it feels like
there is only room for clutter in my mind.
Every event, every memory,
haggling, hustling, harassing
my mind-space,
everything tossed aside and around,
scattered all over.
Everything out of place,
everything clamoring for attention,
everything smothering what’s left of my senses.
I am lost in a sea of fog,
surrounded by nothing but emptiness.
Every shadow stretches longer,
every sound echoes louder,
every silence traps me
in the maze of loneliness.
Until—
I see the soft flicker of clarity in the distance,
I hear its gentle whisper guiding me from within,
I relinquish my stubbornness,
accepting at last
that I was only wandering
in the maze of memories.
Clarity—
sometimes the morning ray of sun
cutting through the mist,
sometimes the soft glimmer of a lantern
at the edge of a room,
waiting to be picked up
to guide the path ahead.
A patient, steady, gentle guide,
reminding me of what is true,
showing me the kindness I need,
nudging me to walk forward,
one step at a time.
‘a lantern…waiting to be picked up’ sounds profound, Vinitha. I read about the guiding light from within that gives us clarity; I haven’t seen it though. May you receive all the ‘kindness and guidance you need’!
