“It is fascinating to think that not so long ago you were the queen of my heart. How I loved you like there was no else in this world! I never thought I could fall in love with someone else like that.

Things changed now. Well, I love you still. But this new girl has stolen my heart mercilessly. I am head over heels with this beauty.”

Shekhar said passionately.

Akhila looked at him pretending to be hurt and replied. “I feel the same you know. I love her more every day like that’s possible.”

Their little baby gave a toothless smile listening to her parents’ chatter.

Journey #FictionMonday

This journey reminded him of the last one he had. He was very excited that day. Finally finding a home to live with forever! That’s the dream, isn’t it! And he was going to live that dream.

But that excitement didn’t last longer.

There was nothing homey about the home he went to live in. The couple who lived there always fought with each other. Instead of taking care of the new addition to their family, they used him to win their arguments. And he always ended up getting hurt in their quarrel and they were least bothered about it.

The abuse reached its height and one day two people from the shelter came and took him back. He came back to shelter more depressed.

Last week, another family came and they loved him. But he wasn’t hopeful. He didn’t try to impress them either. Though, he liked the two kids with the couple. Today the man came and took him.

He is going to live with them. But he isn’t sure how long this will last. Because who knows how these people would turn out to be!

His mind was full of questions. But he didn’t know that his life is going to be changed forever. The nice people took him home because they loved him. He was finally going home, his forever home.

In Her Heart

Her life was built on the foundation of false promises.

Everything was fine, she pretended. But it made her uneasy how easily she could pretend. However, a life where she could be herself away from the prying eyes was easy to fall in love with.

In her heart, she knew double life was the only way she could be herself.

The path ahead seemed rather dark, Seema mused. There is no clarity, no sense of direction. But she had to keep going as if she knows her way around rather well.

The thought scared her.

She never had any idea about how to move forward or what to do. But it was okay. She was alone. Now everything has changed. A tiny life is depending on her.

The little baby cooed in her arms as though knowing her thoughts. That precious smile melted her heart instantly.

“We will figure it out, right darling?” The baby cooed again in agreement. “As long as you have the confidence I’m okay, my dear.” Seema smiled.

Life is twisted! As clueless as she was, she was happy too. Life sure is twisted!

Today is special, her mind kept repeating. Jenna hadn’t had this excited in a long while.

The empty seats will be occupied. The incessant chatter will resume. And that heavenly coffee smell will envelop the cafe once again.

After a long break her cafe will come to life again today.

All will be right in her world again.

Broken Promise #FictionMonday

How could she break her promise just like that! The more he thought about it, his agitation grew.

Granted, he wasn’t around. He was always busy with his work. But that wasn’t a deliberate doing. He loved his work and it paid well too. But as his responsibilities at work increased, he missed a few moments with his family. Starting with their second baby’s birth. He claims just a few moments but he knew it was more than a few. His children never talk that freely with him like they do with their mom.

Isn’t that normal in all households?

And finally, when he rejected a promotion and stepped down to take a lesser role at work to spend more time with his family, she ditched him.

How could she!

We promised to be there for each other from now on.

“It was a heart attack. Sorry for your loss.” Doctor’s words echoed in his ears.

When Her Dream Came True #FictionMonday

She dreamed of getting away from there.

Far, far away.

In her dreams she had the ability to fly. And she would fly out of those huge walls. Those chained gates would offer no resistance.

One day her dream came true. But she didn’t fly out of the orphanage. A young couple came in and wanted to make her their daughter.

They became the angels who gave her the invisible wings to fly.

That’s how she learned to dream more often; because dreams will come true one day.

Goodbye #FictionMonday

It started as little things in the beginning. Like how long it took to bake cheese sticks. Sometimes she forgot to keep the timer altogether. Sometimes she forgot to lock the house or tried to start the car without the car keys.

Gradually, it escalated. It was a tad funny when she forgot how many kids they had. He didn’t notice anything wrong even then.

Then he saw it. No, it glared at him when she forgot his name. He covered up his worries with a teasing smile. Soon she too realized when she struggled to remember her kids’ names.

Nobody likes goodbyes. But for him this was brutal. Every day he lost a little part of her. Every day he became less familiar to her.

This goodbye was too slow and excruciatingly painful. Only he knew. But at least she didn’t remember enough to feel any of the pain, he took solace in that fact.

Fearless #FictionMonday

It wasn’t like she was full of courage. In fact, she was the opposite of courage. She was timid her entire life. People never valued her. She didn’t experience appreciation in her whole life.

That’s how timid personalities are treated. With no particular appreciation or affection.

But that day things changed. She demanded everything that was not given to her and nobody could say no to her. That’s how fierce she was.

Motherhood changes everyone.

Even a street dog like her!

Meddling with her pups would be the last thing anyone will think of now. Motherhood made her fearless.
