As the calendar changed to 2016, I made some plans and goals for the new year. Making plans, now that’s my favorite part. So I took out my notepad and wrote down each and everything I want to do on a monthly basis and then divided my days to accomplish the tasks. I realized that there isn’t enough time to do everything I want to do on a day! It was disappointing. I don’t want my days to be jam packed because then I will fail to complete even the easiest task. So I decided to trim down my To-do list and take it slow. Who knows, if I finish a few of them I might get all of them done, that’s the hope!
So here are my main goals:
- To write constantly and frequently – I want to get better in writing fictions and poems. I haven’t written much fiction in 2015. Thankfully I am doing offline writings more often, so I hope that it will encourage me to post more stories in Void Thoughts.
- To focus on my health – Headache and Backpain, my two companions! I don’t think that I will ever get rid of them completely, but I do hope to reduce their presence on me. Yoga is helping me a lot with these two. I have to focus to be consistent in doing Yoga practice and replace the other two with Yoga.
- To manage time efficiently – This is a true challenge for me because I love planning but I get distracted so easily and always fail to follow up with my plans. Now I am making small lists to keep up with my plans and ticking off the completed tasks every half an hour. Yeah, that’s the new plan. Actually, I have followed this plan some time back last year and it worked very well for a week. I have no idea how I got sidetracked from that! As a further step, I logged out of the Facebook app from my phone. Now I don’t have the urge to keep on checking what’s new on Facebook. Checking FB on the laptop is a time saver.
- To read more – I am reading. I always read. But not the book reviewing kind of reading. I stay away from book review posts as much as possible even though many of my blogger friends do impressive review posts. It is a distraction for me. It is a distraction because then I will start worrying about the enormous amount of books I should read which I never will get the time to. I don’t want to keep a long To-Be-Read list and lose whatever little focus and time I am left with worrying about it. I have a long To Do list to keep me engaged already. Right now I have 6 books which I would like to read in the near future. Now reading doesn’t apply just to the books, does it? There are articles, a lot of them and the blog posts, even more of them. I have allocated time to catch up with all these sections too. So yes, a lot of reading to do on a day!
These are my goals for this year. I think of them as a guidance to get through each day. Writing, reading and practicing Yoga are part of my daily life already. But then they all get tangled up and it gets messy. I am hoping for fewer tangles this year!

Yoga does solve lot of problems. Just stick to the plan. I have disabled all notifications on the cellphone. It saves lot of time and it kills the urge. Now, to do something about Whatsapp which is taking up all my time nowadays. Wish you the best on your goals.

True Lata. Yoga helps in keeping my sanity. I do have WhatsApp but I use it to keep in touch with my family and friends. It hasn’t invaded my space much other than once when I first joined my school group. Now I have learned not to pick up the phone as soon as I hear the beep. But FB, even though I am not posting a lot, I used to browse unnecessarily, wasting my precious time. Thanks for the wishes Lata. 🙂

Yours is an elaborate list. Health, reading, writing and to be able to manage time efficiently – all are very important aspects of life and particularly of a blogger’s life. I also love reading and am too not the one reading and writing book reviews. I pick books randomly and many a times I feel the books find their way to reach me. All the best Vinitha with your resolutions. May 2016 work out to be the best year for you 🙂
