“In nature, nothing is perfect and everything is perfect. Trees can be contorted, bent in weird ways, and they’re still beautiful.” — Alice Walker
So is a cactus.
I’d never seen a cactus in the first 24 years of my life. Well, in Kerala, where I was born and brought up, I couldn’t even imagine something like a cactus in my mind. Not when I was surrounded with likes of coconut trees, mango trees, jack fruit trees and guava trees.
I don’t remember the first time I saw a cactus here in Arizona. Cactus in Arizona is like a coconut tree in Kerala. It’s everywhere. They became a part of my landscape just like that.
They do add a certain charisma to the nature, don’t they?

I love the cactus, especially as a subject for my artwork. They are cute, despite their imperfect shapes, which actually make them perfect! And I just found out that the cactus is a symbol of strength and endurance. Makes me wonder how God has provided ample inspiration for us in nature. All we need to do is, find the inspiration and follow it for a better life! 🙂

I love cactii. I find them utterly fascinating. It’s wonderful how they are a whole eco-system in themselves.

They are quite interesting and strange at the same time.

I love cacti. Growing up, my mum planted many and I have 2 at my home here in Bangalore. I have always imagined seeing the ones in Arizona. It’s like a dream for me. They are tough in the harshest of weather. When the right time comes, they bloom and I love them for all that that I think they are. So thanks for on and off bringing cacti to the thursday tree love!

Both shots are equally good as they capture two different moods! I marvel at how the cactii grow in such abundance in the midst of an arid landscape…the fact that life thrives in that environment is a testimony to how resilient Mother Nature is!
