There’s no fun in routines, so mundane and repetitive,
Yet why do I crave them whenever I am away from my routine?
Why does this predictable, dull, and monotonous routine,
Hold me in its grasp like a comforting hand?
What power does the ordinary hold over me?
Why does it feel like the safest place to be?
In the humdrum of life, why do I feel protected?
Why does this routine mean everything?
Maybe it’s not as lifeless as I believe,
Perhaps there’s more to it than I perceive.
Could this routine hold untold secrets?
A richness and depth, that unfold only for me to identify.
Perhaps, deep within I know,
that how adventurous this dull routine of mine is!
Perhaps, more exciting than a trip around the universe?
For my universe is safely tucked in this monotonous routine.
In the mundane, there’s a world to explore,
A sanctuary that I cherish!
Within this monotonous rhythm, there’s a gentle beat,
A melody that makes my soul smile.

I was over at Parul’s and she said something similar – that it was wonderful to share mundane yet special details with friends. Like you said, the mundane is indeed comforting. While we yearn for a change, we yearn equally to go back to routine. Weird but true.
