Flipping through my gratitude journal is such a pleasant feeling. I notice many of the same lines appearing multiple times — the repetitions of my life and routines.
And yet, I am grateful for those repetitions. They are answers to many of the questions hiding in the recesses of my mind. Perhaps that’s why I often find those repetitions incredibly comforting.
But today, I find myself pausing to ask: What lies beyond those repetitions?
I am curious.
Satiating that curiosity would mean stepping out of my comfort zone.
Am I ready for that?
Perhaps that’s the wrong question. The answer, I believe, can only be found by traveling the path of curiosity.
I write about the things that make me smile. Now, it’s time to jot down the things I want to make me smile.
So today, I invite you to make a note of the things you want to bring a smile to your face. Do the things that currently make you smile align with those you wish would?
Take a few moments to reflect on it.

Hey Vinita!! This reflection is so beautifully thought-provoking! I love how you embrace both gratitude and curiosity, finding comfort in routines yet seeking growth beyond them. Your words inspire me to pause and consider what I want to bring more joy into my life. Thanks for the nudge!!

I love doing such exercises, Vinitha! As part of a game on a Sunday morning, my family and I will often sit and discuss these things…and realise how they are actually so big and significant for each one of us.
Coming to your question—I can see many overlaps between the things that make me smile currently and the things that I wish would do so. Infact, it’s taken some concerted effort on my part to put all the things from the second category into the first.
Mindful living is one of the ways that has helped me do that, Vinitha! :))

You gave an important and interesting exercise. I do know about the things that make me smile but I am yet to know about things that could make me smile. I would perhaps list them down and link to your post. Also I wanted to say that even my gratitude journal has repetitions and I feel truly blessed for those repetitions.

What I want to make me smile? Hmm…that would be, having a bowl of hot and spicy Maggi noodles now, and going for my evening walk. 🙂

today I just want someone to make me yummy food. That would be enough to bring a smile on my face. 😊 I love my gratitude journal too. So many things to be grateful about.

Great question, Vini. I’m trying to step out of my comfort zone and be a part of community. Small steps, but they take some bravery for me.
