Every morning — well, most mornings — I start my day by writing my morning pages.
It’s a slow process ,the first reminder to slow down and savor the moment. And of course, it’s 5 a.m., it’s cold, and I’m somewhere between sleepy and trying to keep my eyes open.
Yet it’s worth it. When I let my thoughts drift onto the page without a pause or afterthought, the fog lifts. Worries, concerns, and doubts from every nook and corner of my mind slowly evaporate. Clarity comes within reach. And as I keep writing, everything feels okay. Like the inevitable first ray of the sun, everything feels like it’s exactly where it needs to be.
Writing morning pages is my morning dose of coffee. Actually, it’s even better than coffee. It wakes me up as if I’ve splashed my face with the first light of dawn.
What’s the first thing you do when you wake up?

“…the inevitable first ray of the sun” : Some beautiful lines flow spontaneously in you post, Vinitha, yet they stand out for the profound message they give. You and Sunita now know why I select certain lines and share them back with you?

My early morning routine is to keep lying in the bed for 30 minutes after waking up browsing the phone. Not ideal, I know. This is followed by a sprint to the kitchen to get the cooking going. It is only when I send the boy off, i sit down with my cup of warm water. Doing what? Please don’t ask.
