What’s your default
when you’re by yourself,
when there is no one to please,
no one to convince,
no reason to pretend?
When you wake up in the morning,
before the day begins,
before worries find their way in,
before the world asks anything of you—
what are you then?
Hopeful?
Unhurried?
Confident?
Peaceful?
What holds you steady?
What forms your foundation,
your quiet building blocks?
You,
before everything else?
What’s your default?

What a great question, Vini. It reminds me of the question about integrity – who are you when no one is watching? I’d like to think my default is being positive and grateful, until the worries and the tasks of the day come rushing in!

Generally worried about what the day holds in store for me, whether I will be able to manage everything.

My default? Hmmm, never thought about it…besides the regular activities, if i have a functional a/c, an overhead fan at maximum spin…i could simply work from a single room. A couple of jug of water, some maggi packets, biscuits and I’m really good to go. You won’t see me in a very long time but for nights where I’ll be out somewhere in a verandah or a terrace overlooking strange people out on the road. I am content with being by myself like really, or a person who is not too much of interference – the co-existing type but only talk when necessary. Exchange smiles and come together for meals 🤣🤣🤣🤣
