Breathe,
not as you always have,
not as you’ve done since birth,
not without a second thought.
Breathe
as though you’re learning how—
a newfound skill,
a newfound freedom.
Breathe
as though there’s nothing else
you’d rather do.
Breathe,
to notice how it feels
to draw a breath,
to let it go.
Breathe,
to pause,
to slow down,
to savor the present.
Keep breathing.
