Its been sometime since I opened the editor and staring at the screen. A lot of things are going on in my mind. But I don’t know where to start and how to deal with it. And all those stuff is just pulling me back. I am tired and withered because of it. Or so I feel.
Remember my choice word of the year? CALM. I am so not calm right now. Last week I lost the last bit of calm in me. I don’t want to stay in this place forever. So I am trying to slow down as much as possible. I have decided to take one at a time. No multitasking. No cribbing over deadlines.
I came across a blog post ‘TRAIN YOUR BRAIN TO BECOME MORE POSITIVE‘ which suggests to write down 3 things we are grateful for everyday. I am glad I happened to read this post. I am giving this ‘rewiring my brain’ thing a try.
So here are the 3 things I am grateful for today.
- Kanna’s half-term break started. That means no more waiting for the bus this week. You have no idea how thankful I am for that and how much I miss our Nissan Sentra.
- Break from school lets me sleep more, that is if my dear son permits. He wakes up at 7 everyday and on weekends 6.30 his day starts. Still I can always sneak in a little extra sleep time. 🙂
- I am grateful for me. No matter how wired I feel, I will find a way to get out of it. It might get all mushy at times but I just love my nature of being there for me. I had a pretty agitated discussion about my unhappy and tired situation with my husband. Though he knows the situation, his words only added fuel to the fire. Perhaps you have to actually experience it to become the aid. Or I can just blame it on the gender and pretend to find solace. During the dicussion I did tell my husband that men’s understanding level is indirectly proportional to their age. 😉
There it is.

My mantra is “This too will pass”. It gives me solace in times of despair and keeps my head on my shoulders in times of ecstasy! Everything will pass, it is just a matter of time. And being grateful is a wonderful way of steering your mind towards positivity 🙂

It’s wonderful to count your blessings when the going gets tough. Not many can do it convincingly, but I’m sure it goes a long way in sweeping the discontent the heart is filled with to replace it with calm and strength. Good going, Vinitha!

I would love to permanently retrain my brain. I can keep to those things for short periods of time, but they always fall by the wayside.

It’s great you are challenging yourself with writing a daily gratitude list, even if only three things. 🙂 Start small and you can always choose to go bigger next time. May your upcoming days, weeks, and months be filled with sunshine! 🙂 ❤

Not all days are sunny Vinitha and glad that you you have “your own self” with you cos in my mind that ‘s the most important thing.
Coming over to husbands, sometimes it’s hard for them to understand what women go through in terms of mental juggle or the hormonal imbalance. So, when it comes to me, I take charge of my happiness and try to turn things for better for myself. I find ways in photography, blogging, reading or watching TV or anything that keeps me engaged. Expecting that to come from anybody else is unfair.
Try and grab naps whenever possible. That will also make you feel better. Living in a country where there is no body around who you know could be tough. Know that we, your blogger friends are with you! Hugs!

I love your sense of gratitude! I also love this: “I just love my nature of being there for me” — in this busy world, it is so easy to put yourself last. Putting yourself first gives more of you to everyone else, I think! 🙂 Love the positivity, I hope you find calm this week. At the very least, enjoy that extra sleep! 🙂

The daily gratitude list is so fulfilling. I did it for a whole week last year and even posted about it on Facebook and finally compiled it as a post on the blog. Any day I feel really sad, I just look up that post and my heart fills over with gratitude. So happy to see you blogging positively 🙂

My problem is not I am not able to pinpoint the problem. It is everything – the past, the present, the future. I think I need a break from all these now. Since that is not going to happen, I am depending on this gratitude list to cheer me up. And somebody please tell my husband that it is perfecltly okay to be sad and tired sometimes! Thank you Shailaja. Your words actually helps 🙂
