Sulk away for a better tomorrow.

I was feeling low few weeks back. It wasn’t because of any sudden changes. Sometimes out of the blue we feel blue, don’t we. I wrote about it here. I let myself fall into that pit. I tried to cheer myself up but, I did not force me to get over it. Instead, I let myself get soaked in that dreary depressing feeling. And it was Okay!

When I stopped fighting against how I was feeling and stopped feeling sorry for feeling low, it all got easier to accept that such low points do happen in life. And then few days later I was back to my happy self. I believe that it’s all part of being alive. We need to feel lows, to appreciate the highs and the mediums. In the end, all is well. I realized that feeling low wasn’t such a bad thing because once it was over I got to enjoy the goodness of life. Perceptive changed so that I am able to see and appreciate the little things that actually matters and brings in happiness.

And the daily gratitude list I was doing, that is a knight in shining armor, a true savior of life! I am writing the gratitude list daily now –  three things I am grateful for each day. Focussing on what I am grateful for is helping me in appreciating what a blessed life I have, while accepting that life does come with complaints which could be overlooked when accompanied with the such merriments, small or big.

Here is my gratitude list from the past few days:

  • I am so thankful for being able to write this post.
  • So grateful for skype, being able to have lengthy face-to-face chats with my sister.
  • I am thankful for my husband.
  • Writing for my pleasure.
  • My tab, my phone, my laptop –  I love my gadgets. 🙂
  • You know, I am not a passionate cook. I started cooking only after our wedding and that too only because I get hungry! I am a self-taught cook. I am grateful for my ability to cook, keeping the starvation in our home to a bare minimum. And yeah, I am thankful that my husband and kid eats the meals I prepare without many complaints.
  • I love yoga. I am so grateful that I found yoga.
  • Kanna fills my life with so much ‘I love yous’ and ‘You are the bests’ and hugs and kisses. I am really thankful for having him as my son.
  • You know how nice it is to wake up to the warmth of the house on a cold morning. I am so thankful for the radiator keeping us warm.

These are few things from my list which I am thankful for. My theory is, on a day if we are able to smile at least once forgetting the miseries and worries, then that is a good day and a good life. Thankfully it so happens too.

  1. There are days when everything looks so dull and gloomy! But it takes a moment to shake that feeling off when you realize that you have so much to be thankful for! Have a blessed weekend! 🙂

  2. I find majority of mothers so perfect when it comes to cooking that I feel inadequate. I realise that Dhruv will never have the opportunity or inclination to say that my mother cooked good food. I fumble and stumble every day. But reading this post gives me a light there is someone sailing in the same boat as me. Thanks for sharing the point about your cooking. This made my day. I would so much want each day to turn out happy and contented for me but there are plenty of them which go down on a low note. The next day however feels much much better by just looking at the sunshine outside.

  3. Your gratitude list made me smile, Keeping starvation to a minimum? If I was the family cook, there would be a lot of that – either that, or I would have been forced to expand my repertoire past “open package and microwave for 5 minutes”. We all feel down at times – so true – and thinking of what is good in our lives really does help.

  5. Vinitha, I can so hear you, babe! 🙂 And, don’t you worry. You are not alone in feeling low, as well as during the lows. I, too, go through these phases. And, they pass by..at times, quickly, and at times taking their own sweet time. I for sure have learnt a lot from these phases and have changed myself and my thinking drastically. It is so good that you have made this gratitude list and do so daily. I do it too. It makes us feel happy that all’s well with our life and with our world. Take care, dear! And, the next time you feel low, remember, you are not alone! 🙂

    1. You know Shipa, this blogging platform has been surprisingly soothing for me when I hit the rock bottoms at times. Before this whenever I felt low, I was in there for so long and it was bad. To add to it my husband never understands this phase (Me being a great wife always be there for him when he feels low 😉 he doesn’t know that sometimes he too gets cranky without reason ) Now here when I share something I feel better without completely going nuts. 🙂 Thank you dear, for the kind words. You guys are awesome. 🙂 ❤

    1. Yeah, gratitude list sure does put a smile on my face. It is always the same old things but without them we will never be the same, right. 🙂 Appreciation matters a lot. I am learning to do that. 🙂 Thank you, Shantala. 🙂
