And the Thanks Giving weekend is over! Just like last year, we missed it this year too. Thanks Giving weekend was always look forward to when we were in Phoenix, not just because of the big sales that followed, or the food that was consumed, but also for the getting together with friends and spending a relaxed time with the family. Right after the Thanks Giving, Christmas decorations take over everywhere. It was so much fun.
This time, I spent the week coughing and wiping the runny noses and an aching body which refused (still is) to get along with the cold weather and the chilly wind. I don’t even feel like writing or even attempt to write actually. Home is where the heart is, right? My heart is lost in the streets of Phoenix, and this time of the year brings back so many memories that I am unable to just shake it off and move on.
I miss you, Phoenix! I miss the mild winter, the gorgeous streets adorned with lights and decorations, Santa Clauses visiting the malls, late night long rides with chai tea latte in my hand and sleeping Kanna in the back seat, the window shoppings, the holidays spent in Flagstaff and everything else that made me smile!
I haven’t felt this kind of a connection with any other place, not even where I was born. And I am absolutely okay with it! Some places give us memories so precious that nothing else can even compete with it. Maybe it was that phase of my life that gifted me so many precious memories, but Phoenix made it extra special for sure, and I will miss you, always!

I always associate memories with any place I go to. I guess I’m a little more emotional that way. We have moved a lot in the few years that we have stayed in the US and every time we had to move, it was difficult and more so an emotional break up with the place.

I do have special attachments to places, but they aren’t really places I’ve lived. They are places I go to constantly. I wonder if I would feel the same way about those places if I had to live in them for years vs. visit.

I like it here – but I do miss our friends – they have moved and I miss spending time with them on Thanksgiving day – we used to always do a huge potluck and it used to be super fun! 🙂

Not so much with places I’ve lived, but there are definitely a few cities I’ve visited – New York, San Francisco, and Chicago – where I felt right at home and would love to visit again.

I move a lot and I have never felt this good in any place as I feel in Piscataway. I feel like I belong here. I think I will have the same feelings when I will leave this place. Hugs to you! 🙂

Get well soon girl. This harsh winter here is New York is also taking toll on my health. I haven’t been to Pheonix. But, the lovely way you have described it – seems like a great place to live in. I miss Bangalore. The place where I was born and bought up. Thanks for sharing Vinitha:)

I have no special attachment with any place I have lived in but I completely understand your nostalgia and attachment with Phoenix. Because Phoenix was the place you found your freedom. Hope you are feeling better health wise.

Same here!!! I miss Phoenix too. This is my first year away from Phoenix and I wish I had never left it!!
