Before the summer heat picked up, I used to go for walk, multiple times a day.
It was a habit I always looked forward to. Walking somehow soothes me.
But now, with the hot weather in full swing, walking has become difficult. Last week, though, I managed to go for a couple of walks when it rained and the temperature dropped.
For the past three months or so, I’ve been enjoying watering the plants in the morning. It’s one activity I look forward to these days. I water them before the sun warms up our backyard. It feels nice to be out there, splashing water on the plants.
I experience the joy of slowing down as I make sure the water reaches every nook and corner of the yard.
Being close to nature calms me. I welcome anything that slows me down. I don’t see having to slow down as a downside.
When I can pause and savor those moments, it feels more meditative than any meditation class.
