Beyond Scribbles

This Monday, I published the 314th edition of Fiction Monday. Keeping the series going has not always been easy.

Through Fiction Monday, I’ve had the opportunity to connect with many different bloggers and discover their wonderful blogs. I’ve been fortunate to read amazing stories, poems, and musings shared in response to the prompts. I’m not sure I can fully express how wonderful it feels to read such a variety of pieces from people I might never have come across otherwise.

I started Fiction Monday on my blog, Reflections, in June 2020. In the beginning, the idea was to write fiction—five-sentence fiction, to be precise. But soon, it became a space for creativity of any kind.

So many things have changed since then. I no longer blog at Reflections, as I merged it with Void Thoughts. Earlier this year, I renamed Void Thoughts to Beyond Scribbles, although it still uses the same URL.

The participating bloggers have changed from time to time. There were familiar faces and blogs that appeared with their responses to the prompts for a certain period, until they moved on or drifted away. New bloggers joined in and eventually moved on too.

I am still here, hosting Fiction Monday every Monday—well, sometimes on Tuesdays. 🙂 

There were weeks during these six years when no one joined in. But I always made it a point to publish a new prompt every week.

My motto is that if it helps at least one person write something, then that is good enough. And that one person can be me, too.

I’m glad I never gave up, even when my motivation faded, even when I felt alone in the blogging world.

Three hundred and fourteen editions later, I’m still here, thinking about the prompt for the next one—and the one after that. And that makes me happy.
