I should have written this yesterday. Or a few days ago.
But here I am, writing this post now. I don’t want to beat myself up over this tardiness.
I have excuses. But that’s not the point. I am here now. That matters.
In fact, that’s the only thing that should matter.
I am here now.
But lately, I’ve gotten into the habit of blaming myself for everything. Of course, after a point, that blame spills over onto the people I live with.
I’ve been noticing everything that’s wrong. Everything that hasn’t been done.
Everything that needs correcting.
I find myself exhausted from keeping track of what’s wrong.
It’s funny how easily I notice the things that go wrong, while the things that go right quietly slip past without much acknowledgment.
I’m not usually a complaining person. But right now, I can sense complaints pouring out of me.
It’s rather tiring.
So here I am, calling myself out and reminding myself to keep track of what’s going right instead.
Right now, what’s going right is that I’m typing this with the intention of publishing it.
I have food in the refrigerator, saving me from cooking today. Another thing that’s going right.
Although I wanted to list one more thing that’s going right, I’ve decided to find it later in the day. Like a spotting game.
What’s going right in the next hour?
Well, typing this has unintentionally cheered me up.
Really, I’m smiling now.
If you’d like to share, do tell me: What’s going right for you or in your surroundings right now?
This piece is written in response to the three hundred and twenty seventh edition of Fiction Monday inspired by the word prompt – NOTICE hosted by yours truly. Do join in if you have a tale to tell.
