7-year-old Neetu and her 4-year-old brother Nitin were playing in the yard in front of their house. It is her responsibility to watch her little brother when they play outside without any adult supervision. But she knows that her mother keeps an eye on both of them from somewhere inside the house. Neetu was never sure how her mother knows things – what she does, who started the fight first or who got whom into trouble, all that her mother knew without being physically present at the scene. Nevertheless, it is Neetu’s responsibility to take care of her younger brother.

So when the homeless guy opened the gate she wasn’t sure whether to call her mom or to take Nitin inside because she was afraid more than anyone. Neetu was always scared of the homeless guys. The untidy look, the sunken eyes, the out-of-place appearance, and the unkempt beard and moustache, it just scared her. Her mother used to tell her stories about how the homeless guys kidnap kids and break their legs or hands and sent them out for begging. It all added to her phobia. She always hid behind her mom or dad whenever a homeless guy was in the vicinity.

And this guy looked so dirty with overgrown moustache and beard. She wanted to run from there. But she was confused at the same time because this guy knew her name, both of their names. He called them as if he knew them very well. Maybe that’s his trick to kidnap them. Maybe he was observing them and learned their names. Then he moved forward and picked up Nitin. Neetu screamed, “He got Nitin” and ran towards her mom, crying desperately.

Hearing all the commotion her mom came out. Neetu was surprised to see her mom smiling at the creepy guy. He asked her mom, “Why is Neetu screaming and running away from me?” “That’s probably because of the way you look,” replied Neetu’s mom. “It’s your Uncle Neetu. Don’t you recognize him?” “Just give me 5 minutes to freshen up,” said her Uncle looking at the scared Neetu as he went inside.

Minutes later appeared the clean-shaven Uncle and Neetu was no longer scared!

The New Day

19 Friday Dec 2014

Rohit has a dream. One dream that he has been holding on to for so long. Tomorrow is the day when that dream finally comes true.

He never was a sports person, not even as a kid. When his friends played cricket and football, he spent time playing shopkeeper and businessman. He was always like that. He liked to manage things. He took care of his sister like a responsible adult when was only 10.

Rohit was sure that he wants to become a businessman when he grows up. As he grew up it changed to becoming a CEO of a firm. But he didn’t want to just wait to get old to become a CEO. So he decided to start a firm on his own. It was just a dream until few months ago. His parents, who have no knowledge in this stream was furious with Rohit when he declared that instead of finding a job just like his friends he was going to become the head of a non-existent company.

The journey wasn’t easy. He put all his time and effort in achieving his dream. Though his parents were skeptical in the beginning, they were proud of their son seeing his determination and hard work. Tomorrow Rohit is going to sign the first deal for his firm as the CEO of his own company. What a moment that is going to be!

As Rohit was going to bed, his father called him. He told Rohit that he is so proud of his little boy in working so hard to make the dream a reality. As they were having a heart-to-heart talk his dad paused in between and said, “Son, I know you have been so busy to make things work but if you go with this face to meet the client tomorrow, all your hard work will be a waste!”Rohit was shocked to hear this. Why is he saying such a devastating thing now? His father smiled and said, “Just shave before you go tomorrow, will you?” Relieved to hear that, Rohit realized how unkempt he had been the past few days. He thanked his dad and went to bed to face the new day.

Next day, spotted the CEO Rohit, ravishing in looks and manners, signing his first deal.

An afternoon..

An afternoon..

Behind the cloud,

lies the blue sky.

It is upto us,

to brighten the day, on a cloudy day.

It is upto us,

to wait for the blue sky.

The Break-up

Sidhart was heart-broken to say the least. His love of 2 years has come to an end a week ago.

Jiya and Sidhart works at the same office. They both are IT professionals. Jiya joined almost a month later than Sidhart. They both were put in the same training program and they were friends from then on.

Everyone else suspected that something more than friendship was going on between them. They spend time together all the time, sent text messages when they were a cubicle away; though Sidhart and Jiya  denied at first that they were in love, everyone around them were sure of the love.

A year later, Jiya’s parents started looking for a groom for her. Jiya wanted to tell her parents that she had found someone for her already. But she was afraid that her parents wouldn’t care for that and make her marry someone of their choice because Jiya and Sidhart came from different religions.

Jiya’s approach made Sidhart uncomfortable. He pleaded with her to inform her parents about their relation. But she was too scared. Sidhart suggested to get married without their parents blessings. Jiya wasn’t strong enough to do that. They got into huge fight and finally after months of bickering and frustration, Jiya and Sidhart broke up.

Sadly, Jiya was also not in good shape. It was true that she didn’t want to go against her parents to marry Sidhart and things were not going so lovely between them lately. But she realized his worth in her life when they were apart. He was not coming to the office anymore. Jiya got worried.

That’s when she decided to against her parents. She went to Sidhart’s house to meet him. She got terrified of what was waiting for her there. Sidhart looked nothing like the person she knew – drinking, untidy, unshaven like a homeless person.

Sidhart was so happy to see her there. He rushed near her and held her hand. Jiya pulled back her hand with a shocking look which he never seen before. He sked,”What? Aren’t you here to get back together?” She replied, “I thought I was but now, I don’t want to get back together.” Sidhart was losing patience. “Why the hell did you come here if you were not sure?” He snapped at her. “Did you take a look at you? What we are through is one of the probles in life. I am sure there is going to be a lot more troubles when we get married, if we get married, that too against our parents wishes. One problem, has brought that worst you out – you have given up on regular life, no shavng, no bathing, no office, what the hell Sidhart? How would I know that you won’t give up when more problems pop in on a later stage of our life? I can’t share my life with someone like that. We are done.” Saying this Jiya stormed out of his house. Sidhart, went back to his room, with a heavy heart. He spotted his reflection on the mirror and he couldn’t blame Jiya anymore!

And thus came a complete end to Sidhart’s love story.

Appears the rainbow.

To bring back kid in one’s self.

Listening to the Rain..

The rain hummed her favorite lullaby
As I craddled on the bed,
Listening to her voice..

And the rain sang the lullaby,
As the night crawled in
And I nuzzled with your thoughts..

And the voice grew feeble
As I slipped into sleep
And the rain sang the lullaby..

In the numbing cold,
I wandered, shivering.
The rays of the sun, unseen
Despair clouded my heart,
Like the foggy morning.
And a touch calmed me, your touch,
Warming my heart,
Soothing my thoughts,
The touch I craved for!

I wait for the next season,

Until you come along.

I will be here, adoring the sky,

Remembering the moments we spend together,

said the leafless tree!

Priya couldn’t understand what the big deal was.

Her sister Shikha, was so fond of the library and the books there. Priya could see it in only one way – a building with lots of books in it, where the people inside couldn’t even look up to smile at each other.
“They are all immersed in those books”, she said. “As if they prefer to become the characters in the books than live the real life.”
“You wouldn’t understand!” Shikha shook her head.
“I would, if only you put that book aside and experienced your life to the fullest for a moment.”
