Creativity gone astray!

Sitting in the porch

I sift through my mind

For inspiration to knock.

The creative mind shuts down

And threw the key away

For me to go awry!

Rhymes, Proses, Poems, Stories –

They all seem to have chosen not to come my way,

I sigh!

I look out with a mind,

That is mere blank.

Roses and lilies dancing merrily,

Gentle breeze creating new rhythms,

Plants and trees joining in the party,

A musical mystery for the eyes.

Inspiration strikes,

And creativity blooms, once again!

Dusk or Dawn,

Does it matter?

It all comes together,

To present the moments,

Breathtaking moments..

31 days 31 posts. I made it. It comes as a surprise to me because I never thought I had it in me what it takes to commit to write daily.
I am so over the moon now. 🙂
Signing up for the NaBloPoMo – October was truly an impulsive act. I didn’t think through about writing every day for the next 31 days. But it turned out to be a wonderful journey.
At the 31st day, I am happy that I trusted that impulse to sign up.

“Life isn’t fair, sweetheart. If it was, then I would have been married to the football captain of the school, not to the science club head!”
“If she married him then you would be talking to your dad in prison now, honey, and I don’t think he is in a position to buy an iPhone.”
“And dear, don’t tell me that you prefer the timed visits than sitting here relaxing,” James said turning to his wife.
Lori smiles as their lips meet.
Christie scoffs at the conversation realizing her iPhone dream is not going to come true anytime soon.

A foggy morning,

when the sun hid behind the clouds,

creating golden clouds,

bringing his palette from yesterday’s dusk,

giving us a chance to wake up to the

golden morning.

She was thrilled as he got on one knee, gently taking her hand and let the words out, “Will you marry me?”

Though they never told each other how they felt, both of them knew that they loved each other. After all, there is something mysterious about those untold words, as they tried to speak their heart through gestures; love is undying when words are carried through gestures!

As she was about to say “yes,” he stood up and asked “How was it, Amy? You think she will say yes?”

Heartbroken, she said “yes, who wouldn’t? ” then he took the ring and put it on Amy’s finger, taking her by surprise and said to a teary-eyed Amy as they embraced each other, “That’s what I was hoping you would say, my dear.”

“Lights in Diwali,” they said it was, brightening the earth.

Is that how we appear to the people from below?

Wondered all of us, alike, never seeing us from distance.

Lights in Diwali accompanies with puffs of smoke, why so?

There is no smoke around us other than puffy clouds.

And those thundering noises from down there, how it happens?

Because dear, it isn’t perfect what they are doing there.

Our lights are natural, but they are producing it artificially.

The smoke and sound are byproducts of their ignorant doings.

Stars are wonders of night, never could replicate it elsewhere!

Written for 10/10 Tuesday based on the prompt ‘Lights in Diwali’ hosted by Cynthia and Deepika.

Dear ten year old me,

It is Diwali tomorrow. And I am not excited as I used to be!

Pic via Pixabay

Did you ever think that such a day would come in your life? Remember those Diwalis back in the day where you were excited just to burn the crackers. Of course, you remember! For a 10-year-old fireworks and sweets were happiness and beyond. Diyas and new dresses were only part of the celebration. Then visiting friends’ houses, burning more crackers, which ten year old kid didn’t love that.

How you fought with your sister to get more share of crackers for yourself! Remember, how much you wished to become a grown up and burst the crackers as much as possible, all by yourself, with no dad and mom telling to stop! Remember, those days when you waited to go back to school just to share with your friends how much fun you had!!

Did you ever imagine that when you become a grown up you would get tangled in life’s messiness so much and one day you would forget to celebrate Diwali, or lose interest in celebrating Diwali? Is that coming as a shock to you? Had you known this you would have never wanted to grow up, would you?
Today, I don’t have the excitement of that ten year old in celebrating Diwali. I crack the fireworks to see my kid’s smile. I make sweets for my family to enjoy.
Diwali with my ten-year-old self was much more exciting because then I used to enjoy just for me. Pleasure was all mine because you were there. It was you who made it possible for me to enjoy Diwali to the fullest! And today, I miss you. I wish you were here to make me feel the liveliness of Diwali once more.
Missing you,

Yours truly!

“Hi.”
“Hi,” Grace said uncertainly.
“I’m Joe.”
“Grace.”
“I see you here every evening.”
“I haven’t seen you.”
“Yeah, I know. You never seemed to be present here when you were here.” He chuckled.

That was true. She came there every evening in memory of her deceased boyfriend, Xavier. That spot was their favorite meeting place till the day he died. She was always lost in thought when she got there.
“Would you like a cup of coffee?”
A voice from inside her said that it’s time to let go. Maybe, it’s time she thought as she smiled at Joe.

She wakes up early every morning and soon starts her work for the day.
Rest of the family wakes up later to the aroma of food.
As they treat themselves to the breakfast, she sneaks in a quick shower, getting ready for (more) work.
Getting their kids ready for school comes under her job description too.
Questions like
“Mom, where is my homework?”
“Did you see my watch, honey?”
flung around lavishly and they are met with answers that made the questioner happy.
Yes, she has answers for every nerve racking question. She is supposed to know what is needed in advance! Does she have the sixth sense to know anything and everything around her, one might wonder, but that’s one question that no one ever asked her. Was it because she was expected to do so?
Hug for the kids, Kiss for the love, she is there to give generously, but did anyone ever bothered to return the favor?

She attended the PTA meetings, befriended other parents at their children’s school, volunteered for school activities. All she did within the luxury of limited time.

She worked for eight or more hours outside home. In the evenings, hungry kids waited for her back at home. She cooked meals, she cleaned house, did laundry, laid out fresh clothes for tomorrow, cleaned dishes, helped kids with their homework, read books for them and put them to sleep singing lullaby.
She made her husband’s dreams hers, helping him in making those a reality in every way she could.

She listened to his complaints about his boss and colleagues at his work. She offered comfort. She knows when he is upset even before he was aware of it. His heart was safe with her. He depended on her for every tiny little thing. But he never admitted to her that how vital she is in his life. Does he ever realize that, I wonder!
She lends her ears to her friends when they are in need of a listener. She encourages them, comforts them, and just be with them.
She was there when her parents or in-laws needed her.
She might not be able to solve the global warming or the terrorist attacks, but every day, every moment she parts with a bit her to her family and friends, without expecting anything in return, just for their happiness!

She is tired for most part of her day and her life, but you will not see her tired! She is upset many times, but you will not see tears spilling from her eyes!

She is a mother, daughter, sister, friend, wife, grandmother, employer, employee, a stranger. She is just a random person you meet on the street every day.
Appreciate Her! Love Her! Respect Her!
