Summer Bloom #ThursdayTreeLove

From our garden

Arizona is currently experiencing a record breaking heat wave and that’s saying something. It’s incredibly hot here during summers, but this time we have tuned the heat setting to the highest level and beyond. 2023 has broken the highest number of days temperature was 110 F or above continuously. We also saw the highest low ever multiple times this year. It’s breaking records like there is no tomorrow. Today I saw an unusual news – Medical examiner’s office in Phoenix adds refrigerated containers for backup storage as heat related deaths are increasing daily here.

When the heat rises consistently it wreaks havoc. Wildfires, dehydration, tiredness, dizziness, the list is endless. Everyday news is filled with problems caused by extreme heat.

We have a dry summer although it’s technically time for summer monsoon to arrive. Last night, we got a bit of rain following a dust storm. But the temps are still high.

The above picture was clicked during the last week of June before the heat ravaged our corner of the world. The rose blooms looked lovely after a watering session. The new buds couldn’t survive the high heat though. I am waiting for the heat to take it down a notch like 105 or something for our plants to breathe.

How is the weather on your side of the world? Hope you have better luck than us.

  1. Living in the Northeast United States, we have totally missed the horrible heat of many other states, including yours. I have family in Texas and Florida and my husband has family in Florida, Texas and Arizona, and we see their posts on social media about the heat. Alana ramblinwitham

  2. The water droplets look refreshing on this beautiful rose! Our daytime temps have been in the 90s so often here on the Carolina Coast that the occasional 80s feel cool. The humidity is awful. I hear Arizona is a dryer heat, but hot is hot. We recently drove five hours west to the mountains for a quick visit and loved the cooler air. It was funny to have to find a jacket.

  3. That’s hot! It’s raining here and Bangalore and sometimes there are days before we see Sun. The rose looks beautiful and yes, hope the weather gets better there for you all.
Thanks for joining, Vinitha and I am looking forward to seeing you on the 10th!

  4. The rose looks lovely with the water droplets giving it some cool company!
The heat is getting worse everywhere, Vinitha. Here, too, we felt it hotter in May as compared to last year. When we came to live in the present apartment three years ago, we didn’t have a fan, and we wouldn’t keep the AC on all day, and yet we survived the long summer months. This year, we needed both, the fan and the AC, to keep us cool.
To put it simply, we have ruined our planet and are reaping the fruits of our misdeeds.

  5. Lovely roses!! I am sure they will bear buds as the heat reduces. We have the monsoon season presently.. much delayed but they are our lifeline.. For crops and drinking water as the dams are filled. Life giving rains!
